In the task pane, tags being displayed in an abbreviated form or with only their color is, at a glance, ambiguous and unuseful.
Also with the bold colored background behind the tag, it looks cluttered and becomes the visual focal point of the, otherwise, clean interface.
I recommend displaying the whole name of each tag in a smaller sized font.
As for tag colors, I recommend either a colored outline around the tag name and/or colored text. Of course, "no color" should also be an option.
This way, the larger size of the task name will draw the visual focus while the smaller size texts around it indicate supporting information.
