#846: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

Please, provide an option to view subtasks in task's detail pane in order not to loose from sight other tasks in the main window view when listing a task with lots of subtasks. This way I could focus easier on subtasks, to be not frustrated to see so many todos at once, too ... 😱

Hi Asus, Let us think about it. Thanks for the suggestion.

This seems like it has been added now (and that is great, I love it). I am wondering if there is a way to only show active subtasks in the list. Either as a further option on exposing them at all or it matched the main panel setting regarding visibility. Screen Shot 2021-03-27 at 11.46.29 AM.png

@crystal Thanks ... I will keep my fingers crossed for it ... 😃

I need this feature too.

Hi Vikas, Thanks for your feedback. Basically, Quire’s main design and key feature is the 'nested tasks list', that’s why we have the subtasks in the main panel and listed them all out under the parent task. I think the detail panel would be too packed if we try to squeeze all the subtasks inside. Also, if the subtasks are moved into the detail panel, would you still want them in the main panel? 😃

Hi Vikas, Thanks for the explanation! 😃 I kind of understand your point, but for me, the main panel is already clear enough to see the complete context for tasks, since you could see the whole tree structure in main panel.

FYI, we plan to add checkbox feature in the far future. Just so you know, the checkboxes won’t have statistics reports like the subtasks do. But I think maybe it could solve your problem.

A. The core WHY?

"When I am looking at the detail of a task to get the complete context I need to see all the subtasks."

B. Now on to the details:

> if the subtasks are moved into the detail panel, would you still want them in the main panel?

Yes. Obviously. Since the main panel helps with planning.

> the detail panel would be too packed

The subtasks can be put under a link that says "1 subtasks for this task" and when I click on it then I see the subtask.

There already is "1 tasks referred to this task"

C. Some possible solutions

For tasks that have subtasks quire tells me there is 1 unassigned task but it does not tell me which task it is referring to:

If this could be made into a link that would solve the problem.
