#829: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

This is unexpected behavior. Users prefer to double-click ANYWHERE on the task row to start editing it:

[Buy milk <dbl-click here> ]

However, in Quire you have to double-click the actual TEXT portion "Buy milk". In almost all apps, you can double-click anywhere on the row to start editing the item, also known as full-row editing. I really recommend adding support for it here.

Hi Alex, We do this on purpose to avoid any unexpected or unwanted accident/mistake.

Hi Crystal, can you explain what type of mistakes you're concerned with? The worst that can happen is an accidental edit mode getting activated. The user can accidentally press the delete key or drag and drop something, so mistakes are unavoidable but the convenience seems to be overwhelming. Currently you are requiring the user to drag his mouse across the entire screen to the left part of the item to double click it. Microsoft, Google, and other major software companies realized that entire row selection or editing is the best way to go. I am referring to Ms Word, Excel, Windows Explorer and Google Sheets. I hope you will reconsider because there is minimal risk and major convenience in the edit mode that I am suggesting.

+1 for Alexander! I like the double clicking for editing. The one click brings highlight of the selected task, opens the side bar, you can focus/copy/show some text while in readonly mode and prevents you from always ready for typing errors by mistake. What I do not like so much is that in order to edit you must click twice directly on the text part, not anywhere on task border - it would be more convenient (for tiny text tasks to click twice anywhere on the frame in order to enter editing) ...
