Allow me to dismiss the tooltip (e.g. "Press CTRL to show/hide numbers") by tapping/clicking it

I'm getting all these tooltips on pressing the CTRL key to show/hide numbers, and other tooltips sometimes. I don't want to hunt with my mouse or finger for the small [x] button on the tooltip. Let me also close it just by clicking or tapping it. They don't carry any vital information, so closing it like that is harmless.
