#676: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

Hi guys,

thank you for this wonderful tool. For diverse organizations I have been searching for the perfect project management tool, but I never found the right one. Thanks to you I found out that what made me quit was cumbersume task inserting, and the lack of hierarchy in tasks. It should be as easy as making a tree in Google Docs, but with the power of project management. Quire is doing this right and I'm very enthusiastic about it, even though it took me a while to understand the interface.

I have one suggestion. I understand that all shortcuts without CTRL refer to editing the task at hand and that all shortcuts with CTRL are meta-operations on tasks. However, when quickly entering multiple tasks, I expect to be able to insert a new task by pressing ENTER, just like in a word processor. I understand this would be inconsistent, but if you look at it that way, then the use of TAB when defining a task is also inconsistent and should have been CTRL+TAB.

So my suggestion (or request!) is the possibility to, when editing or selecting a task, immediately jump to create a new task in the same parent when pressing ENTER instead of CTRL+ENTER. An option for this in the account would suffice 😃

Similar to Luuk, I have been pondering what has made me abandon software, including Quire, which I love. One definitely weak point is no option to hit enter to create a new task. Omnifocus gets this largely correct - Enter creates a new task, Tab takes you straight into each column. I wish Quire had a similar interface. It makes brainstorming and editing so easy.

To change the hierachy of the tasks, I use option-left/right/up/down (to replace tab/shift-tab).

It is easy, but I have to think about it. In every word processor where I would make a list, ENTER lets me start a new item, so that feels intuitive to me, but it depends on what you are used to ofcourse. Thank you for considering it! 😃

And I just made a review on alternativeTo!

Hi Luuk, Awesome! 👍

Hi Luuk, Happy to know you like it, especially our “tree structure” (hierarchy)! 😃 I guess pressing CTRL+Enter is not as easy & quick as Enter for you? We will consider it. BTW, would you please help us by leaving a review of Quire on alternativeto? We would truly appreciate it!
