#654: Quire Feedback

Dear Crystal!

The only part is missing to use this software as our project management system is to have a custom task statuses. I know that is it possible to do a similar think with tags but that is a little different, because I need to remove the old tag to change it to the new one.

Hy Crystal,

Thanks for the answer, I can hardly wait for it 😃

Hi Crystal, Thanks for the answer. And when will be it released? 😃

Hi Crystal, maybe I'm just dumb, but I can't find a way to create a new status even after Mark III

@caudebert - you can create a custom status in the board view. Add the tasks to that board, then you will be able to see the newly created status in the list view. Here's a guide for more information: https://quire.io/guide/status-column/

Hi Béla, You should be able to add your own “status” (state) to a task when we introduce the “kanban board” view feature. For now, you can add default statuses (eg. In Progress) to a task.

Ok, I found how to do it, however I also found what seems to be a little bug. Here's what I did.

  • In board view, I created a new column giving it a name (say, "Testing" just for example), color and percentage.
  • In list view, selected a task to edit, clicked to the drop-down status change menu: the "Testing" status was not visible, only "To Do", "Doing" and "Done".
  • This is why earlier I said I couldn't find a way to create a status: I just assumed that this behaviour meant that columns and statuses are treated as different concepts.
  • After a while, in board view, I moved a task dragging it to the "Testing" column.
  • Only then, in list view, editing that task, the "Testing" status would be visible! It was not only visible as the current status, but also in the list of statuses when clicking the drop down (which now showed 4 statuses and not 3).
  • I then changed its status back to a default one, changed view, and went back to list to edit again that task: the "Testing" status was still visible and did not disappear.
  • Happy for having found a quirk to unlock a non-default status in the task edit view (after all, I would just have to do it once per new column, wouldn't I?), I then tried to set the "Testing" status also for another task: it wasn't visible, only the 3 default statuses were. Cry. So, after this little experiment, unless I'm missing something, it seems to me that a non-default status is visible in task-edit list view only for tasks that have been in that status at some point of their history; otherwise, if you want to put a new task in "Testing" status already, you have to:
  • set it "To Do" so that it'll be visible in the board
  • switch to board view
  • drag it to "Testing". Which still does the job, but is inconvenient if you're creating it in list view.

Hi Béla, We do not have an estimated date for it yet but you can check out our FAQ page which we will update accordingly and follow us on Twitter for most recent updates. 😃

Hi, Same probleme here, I thing we should be able to create our own default status for all our systeme.
