#640: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

Hello. I have noticed that if I create a periodic task (i.e. every week), if I don't mark as completed in some time, when I do it, it marks as completed all the occurrences and the only one that remains active is the next one. I think this is clear with an example. Let's say I have a monthly task that started on May 15, 2017. I remember to mark completion of these tasks now, Oct 3, 2017, then Quire will mark completed May 15, June 15, July 15, August 15, and September 15. The next available occurrence will be October 15. For some sort of tasks this work pretty well, but for other ones (write checks) is not that convenient.

I would say if I marked let's say the first occurrence, only that one should be marked as completed. The remaining ones should be kept open. Anyway it is the user responsibility to mark their tasks on time, and they should marked them one by one. I don't think someone will miss 3 or more... Any other opinions?

Ideas of an alternative how this should be handled?

Like you stated, sometimes this IS what should happen... so there would need to be a way to distinguish when this behavior is acceptable and when it is not. (ie... "create individual tasks for each repeat" vs "treat consecutive tasks as one")

Hi Javier and Matthew, Yes, either way of the two makes sense. Let us think about it. And thanks @mbilliodeaux for the suggestion. 😃

Maybe. It depends on how frequently the task occurs. I think your post is pretty good calling out this behavior.

My vote would be in favor of each task needing to be clicked (perhaps with a right click menu option to mark all as completed).

Such a feature would make this an amazing tool for habit building as well as routine management and recurring task management.
