Would be nice per project (and then per task/subtask that inherit, but can be overridden) to be able to specify who it is assigned to by default.

Hi Random, Is a default assignee for each project what you have in mind? That is, when you add a task, it is auto-assigned to that default assignee? Currently, when you add a subtask under a task that is assigned to A, the subtask will be auto-assigned to A. Perhaps it would help. 😃
