One of my favourite features on Quire, is the ability to assign tags, assign tasks and set due dates with shortcodes, "Buy eggs #shopping @me <Tomorrow>" But when editing a task via the text field, all those codes are hidden, "Buy eggs" and editing it via the text feed again, to add tags or add people to the task overwrites tags already set. Which is fine if you only have 1/2 tags. But if you have tasks with multiple tags, you have to either edit it all with the mouse in the side bar, or write all the tags from scratch in the text field.
I propose that when a task is edited, those shortcodes are maintained in the text field. i.e when you create a task "assemble new wardrobe #diy #bedroom #decorating", and when you double click the task to edit it, it keeps the shortcodes there, "assemble new wardrobe #diy #bedroom #decorating #hammertime", so that you can simply add to or remove from them all with the keyboard, making tagging on Quire friendlier for power users.
Hi Dylan,
Happy to hear that you love this quick and handy feature. 😃
And thank you for bringing up the issue of overwriting current tags/assignees. We are actually aware of it, and are thinking about introducing something like +#tag, -#tag, +@assignee and -@assignee to let you easily add to (and remove from) existing tags/assignees.
What do you think? Would it help?

Hi Dylan,
You can now add more assignees / tags to a task by typing +@assignee/+#tag in the task name, and remove them by typing -@assignee/-#tag. 😃

Hi @Crystal, That sounds perfect yes, I like that solution a lot more than my suggestion actually. Would that be something that comes out in the 2.0 release?
Dylan Clarke, May 25, 2017
Hi Dylan, Great! It is not part of our upcoming 2.0 but as soon as we get to it, I will let you know. Thank you for your patience. 😃
